THURSDAY – 10/3/19
The first testimony of the impeachment inquiry against President Donald Trump will start today as Kurt Volker, the former US special envoy to Ukraine, will be interviewed by three different congressional committees across today’s schedule. Volker is an expert in GOP foreign policy, but isn’t a strong supporter of Trump according to CNN.
The impeachment inquiry started last week when Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi formally commenced it in a brief press conference. Pelosi, a Democrat from California, has long been absent in the liberal campaign to impeach President Trump, but has since gone on record to say, “No one is above the law,” and “Donald Trump must be held accountable”.
The decision to attempt to impeach Donald Trump has come over a whistleblower alleged that Trump withheld foreign aid from Ukraine in order for them to investigate business ties between them and Hunter Biden, son of Presidential candidate and former Vice President Joe Biden. Transcripts of the call between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky have been interpreted differently by both Republicans and Democrats, as America remains split on whether to impeach him or not.
